Frequently Asked questions

1. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When working with new clients I have several steps that I take.  I like to first speak to them over the phone to make sure we are a good match. Once that is established and our schedules match I like to schedule a meet and greet to get to know my potentially new pal(s) and their parents. Once at the visit, we discuss in detail the pals potty/sleeping/eating schedule and confirm the dates that are needed for care.

2. What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with some large to small breeds dogs, cats, birds, small mammals, and fish.

Currently our focus is on smaller breeds, 30lbs or under for walks and boarding. Some exceptions are made for senior dogs who are above 30lbs and good walkers for drop-in care and boarding. Please inquire for details.

Some of my pals were/ are Golden Retriever, Schnauzer, Shepard Mixed, French Terrier, Jack Russell Terrier, Dachshund, Chihuahua, Mini Grey Hound, Maltese, Yorkie Mix to name a few.

3. How did you get started doing this type of work?

I always had a passion for animals growing up. I had cared for animals of friends, co-workers and eventually word of mouth spread. I took a break for a few years while living in the Bay Area from pet sitting and working at a few big name companies. We recently moved to Roseville and i decided that I wanted to do Pet Care. I am in the process of starting my own company and expanding my brand Playful Pal.  So far I loved every minute of it working with a variety of furry pals.

4. How does your service stand out?

I always had a fondness towards animals growing up. I've learned to be respectful of them and watch their body language for them to tell me what they need. I have over 3 years experience with a different breed of dogs, cats, birds, fish and small mammals. If you are looking for a dependable, trustworthy and caring person. I'm the one for the job.

5. What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I love connecting with a variety of animals and making sure they are well cared for while their parents are away. Many pets get stressed out during a drive to a pet hotel and being locked up in a pen for majority of the day lacking the freedom they have at home. I try to remove that stress by doing my best to follow their daily routine, in my home or theirs. What I enjoy most about my work is caring for a variety of pets and getting the snuggle and wag of approval in return.

6. Can my pet meet you first?

Yes, I prefer that as that eliminates any stress upon initial day of care for the pet or sitter. Having the pet meet the sitter while the parent is there tells the pet that this person is safe and not a threat. It also lets the parents know if the sitter is a good fit to watch their pet while they are at work or traveling.  At this time it's a good opportunity to learn about the daily routine of the pet and where everything is kept so that on day 1, everything will go smoothly and there would be enough time for play and fun.

7.How often can you walk my dog?

For drop-in care we tailor around the pets normal daily routine if parents on vacation.
For boarding: Pups get 1-2 walks daily and/or lots of time in the yard, supervised, if weather permits.

8. Will there be other animals around?

When caring for your pet in your home, those will be the only animals in my care during that time. No additional pets will introduced.

If you are boarding your pet, there will be a family cat in the house. To ensure safety to both animals our cat will be in the master bedroom while your pet will have free range of most of the house. If unpredicted behavior issues come up room limitation might be created, but regardless during the stay the pet will be treated as part of our family with safety and care in mind.

9. How much time can you spend with my pet?

As discussed during the meet and greet, I will spend as little as 30 minutes with the pet up up to 3 hours as needed.

10. Do you enjoy pet-sitting?

Yes, I have 5+ years experience caring for a variety of pets, and so far I enjoyed minute of it.

11. Can you help out with my pet's special needs?

I have limited experience with special needs pets, but experience with seniors and separation anxiety pets. Medicine administration: topical and oral.

12. Are you insured?

Yes, I am currently insured and have a business license.
